My life was spent trotting through the woods and drifting on the open water. I learned more from nature and adventure than most other experiences in life. I am bringing you the Rugged Dad Outdoors site to offer you a place to learn and grow with me, and to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone. Through leading by example, I hope that the messages here will not only get you to lead a more outdoor lifestyle, but also inspire your kids to pick up the passion.
My journey started in 2013 when I became a father for the first time. My goal as a father is to help my three little ones live life to their fullest, break away from conformity, and overall just live a happy and healthy life. I'm not a perfect dad by any means, but I hope that through this blog, I will in turn become my best self and serve as their greatest roll model.
My biggest struggles as a dad come in the form of patience, empathy, staying active, self confidence and not keeping it together. I can't speak for all parents, but if I had to guess, most of you are probably struggling with these same things. This blog will be a journey and experiment of sorts for me. I hope to bring you interviews and wisdom from some of the brightest minds on the planet.
While I've spent most of my life engaging in the outdoors, since becoming a parent, these aspects that I love most have slipped through my fingers. This blog isn't solely dedicated to giving you tips and tactics to getting outside, but will also feature many things I'll learn on my journey to being a better parent. I am really hoping to improve on every aspect of my life. Physically, mentally, spiritually, socially and in many other aspects, I hope to not only emerge a better father, but a better leader as well.
